Hair Dreams Coming True

“I can't begin to explain how grateful I am that I ended up at RANA. My own hair has grown stronger and has become longer and it doesn't break off anymore. Every time I go out, I'm reassured for 3 months."

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of full long hair… Whenever my hair got longer, we immediately put the scissors in it because it always became very thin. I have never had it longer than shoulder length. As I got older, my hair also started getting darker blonde. When I was 14 I colored my hair for the first time.

But I had to and would stay blonde. I secretly did this in the bathroom and afterwards my mom was of course in shock. It turned yellow and it wasn't the Paris Hilton blonde I'd dreamed of. My mom took me to the hairdresser and since then I bleached it every month. Which of course makes your hair even more brittle…

When I was 17, I decided to go for a short haircut and a year later I shaved the sides off, just like Rihanna. I wasn't a punk by the way, but I thought that was 'super cool'. Because I had such white hair, I often put a color shampoo on it: I've had all the colors of the rainbow: rose, green, blue, rost ... Also I sometimes went back to my natural color or brown to give my hair a little 'let it go'. This just never lasted long :-) I thought I was supposed to be blonde!

In 2014 I decided to let my 'undercut' grow. Done with shaving, I wanted it back longer and fuller. Of course it's slow… Very slow… I hated it. I knew what extensions were but thought it would look "fake" and make my hair even more brittle. And it was… Because I went to the wrong hairdresser. Trying out the extensions made me realize what it could do for me. Longer and fuller hair was possible. And it made me feel so much more confident. At least, if the wind wasn't blowing too hard and I didn't put my hair up in a ponytail. Then you could see them. I resigned myself to the fact that it could break my hair.

So I went looking for another hairdresser because it was obviously not the intention that my hair would break off or that you would be approached about the fact that you could notice my extensions… By chance I ended up at Rana Hair. I had an instant connection with Carolien and Bastiaan, who run the business. I was immersed in a new world. How they treat their customers is something I have never experienced before. You feel like a real princess and are taken through the process step by step to make the right choice for your hair. Because everyone is unique and extensions should be too, they go through the various options and explain to you the advantages and disadvantages associated with them.

I felt very comfortable. I chose the Invisilocks and the color matched my hair perfectly.

I can't begin to explain how grateful I am that I ended up here. My own hair has grown stronger and longer and doesn't break off anymore. Every time I go out, I'm reassured for 3 months. I can also brave the wind or put my hair up in a ponytail without worrying that anyone would notice I wear extensions. I LOVE IT. And certainly because we often go for shorter hair, everyone ALWAYS is extremely surprised when I say I have extensions. That's the best part, nobody sees it! And if they don't follow me on Instagram, they'll never know :-)
